health and safety measures.The Measurement Technician position is
centered on Kinder Morgan's Tennessee Gas Pipeline (TGP) Hamilton,
AL Compressor Station Number 550 located at 465 County Highway 56,
Hamilton, AL 35570 with asset responsibilities on the TGP 500 line
covering the northwest corner of Alabama. This is a Monday through
Friday position with on-call responsibilities nights and weekends.

Technician, Maintenance Manager, Natural Gas Operations Technician,
Quality Tech, Corrosion Technician, Gas Mechanic or similar.Primary
Purpose:Responsible for the installation, maintenance, operation
and accuracy of all natural gas metering and control facilities.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Install, inspect, test, adjust, maintain, operate,
troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and remove advanced measurement,
control and regulation equipment, and gas quality equipment.
- Detect measurement error, correct volumes as needed and provide
supporting documentation.
- Monitor gas and liquid product volumes through the measurement
system, insure all corrections are applied and proper qualities are
applied.
- Interpret and apply electrical and electronic schematics
pertaining to EFM and measurement electronics - including power
systems, end devices, and telecommunication equipment.
- Assess all facets of assigned facilities to insure accurate
measurement and maintaining the company lost and unaccounted for
gas and product with a high degree of ownership within the
established corporate goals.
- Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all
facilities and equipment as needed.
- Oversee the construction and/or maintenance activities
performed by third parties.
- Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental
concerns.
- Perform audits of custody transfer and control data when
necessary.
- Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork.
- Perform all work in compliance with Company standards,
procedures, regulatory and tariff requirements.
- Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
- Overtime and limited overnight travel will be expected as
required by the position.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Education Requirements:
- Minimum High School diploma or equivalent with 1-3 years of
natural gas pipeline experience.Certifications, Licenses,
Registrations:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a
driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
- Achieve and maintain all qualifications, certifications, and
progression requirements applicable to the job classification
- Completion of any site specific technical training that may be
applicableExperience / Specific Knowledge:
- Understand and operate all measurement related
instrumentation
- Working knowledge of environmental and safety aspects of
measurement projects
- Proficient with computer skills (MS Office, operating systems,
company software, and technical systems)
- Basic Math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication,
division, fractions, decimals, etc.) Competencies, skills, and
abilities:
- Must respond to, and address, callouts and emergencies during
and after regular business hours including after dark hours, which
requires carrying a communication device
- Ability to complete work assignments with minimal supervision
in an acceptable time frame
- Ability to estimate installation, operating and maintenance
expenses associated with measurement systems.
- Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document,
and complete work independently.
- Ability to successfully work in team environment.
- Overtime and overnight travel will be required.
- Must be able to work with a team, take direction from
supervisor(s), prioritize work schedule, focus attention on
details, and follow rules.
- Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- Safe work practice and active participation in the safety
program.
- The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug
screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been
extended and prior to being employed
- Knowledge of company policies and PHMSA regulationsWorking
Conditions / Physical Demands:
- Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions
- Must be able to frequently, enter confined spaces, climb to and
work from elevated platforms, excavated areas, ladders, walkways,
etc.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward
positions, lift 26 to 50 pounds from floor to waist occasionally,
and 51 to 100 pounds if required.
- May work in low-lit areasPreferred Experience, Skills and
Knowledge (above the minimum requirements; not required, but
advantageous in this position)
- A two year technical degree in, electrical, electronics, or
equivalent from an approved and accredited college or
university.
- Experience in all phases of measurement as described in the Job
Responsibilities
- Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems, measurement
related portions of NEC, and AGA standards
- Knowledge and experience with safe handling practices of
products (gas and liquids).
- Approved educational courses in all phases of measurement.Job
level commensurate with skills and experience. The above statements
