This job designs and fits supportive products to provide care to patients who have disabling conditions of the limbs and spine or need assistance with activities of daily living to maintain function to remain active. Assesses patients, formulates a treatment plan, implements the treatment plan, follows up and manages the practice. Works closely with the medical staff in the treatment and/or rehabilitation of the injured, athlete or physically challenged. Assumes responsibility for fitting patients with orthotic braces, dispensing TENS units to patients, casting application and removal, splinting, and instructing them on use and care.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Applies orthotic bracing.
  • Dispenses and provides instruction for TENS units.
  • Manages patients.
  • Applies casting application, removal, and splinting responsibilities.
  • Maintains orthopedic closets and inventory of closets in designated areas.
  • Assists with delivery of patient care by functioning as an effective member of the team.
  • Ensures the flow and retrieval of information is timely and accurate.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
