Job Description:
Full-time Description Valor Healthcare is looking for a
passionate Laboratory Technician to join our team at the Community
Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in (meridian). In exchange for your

laboratory technician! Our mission is simple: to provide quality
healthcare to America's veterans through our healing focus,
indebted hearts, and tireless resolve. Valor operates more than 50
VA CBOCs in the United States as a contractor for the U.S.
Department of Veterans Affairs. We provide a full range of medical
services to veterans through the operations of CBOCs, tailored to
meet the specific needs of local VA medical centers. Our
comprehensive set of services includes primary care, diagnostics,
laboratory, telehealth, behavioral health, and more. As a
Laboratory Technician, you will provide prescribed medical
treatment and personal care services to patients with diseases and
injuries seeking treatment in the clinic, as directed by physician
or mid-level provider. ?You will collaborate with the core PACT
Team (Primary Care Provider, RN and Medical Assistant) and expanded
PACT Team including family/caregiver, VA, and community-based
services involved in developing the patient care plan. Core
Responsibilities Perform in-house laboratory procedures on
appropriate specimens to provide information for the diagnosis and
treatment of diseases within the scope of the clinic. Recognize and
respond to critical values as they pertain to patient tests,
results, controls, and proficiency samples Ensure specimens are
properly collected and labeled Enter laboratory requests/results
into the VISTA/CPRS system. Ensure that all lab equipment is
maintained and calibrated following manufacturers’ recommendations
and clinic policies and procedures Assure quality controls are run
and documented per manufacture and system guidelines. Comply with
the performance measures and clinical guidelines as set forth in
the current VHA Performance Measures Technical Manual or by verbal
direction and comply with all requirements specified by the VAMC
that issues the contract. Comply with the CDC’s “Universal
Precautions” for the prevention and transmission of HIV and other
communicable diseases. Other duties as assigned. Compliance:
Fulfill compliance requirements of the Office of Inspector General
(OIG), Joint Commission (JC), Environment of Care (EOC) oversight,
lab compliance and other related items. Responsible for ensuring
that contaminated material and trash are maintained in proper
containers (red bags) Clinical Outcomes: Remain focused on
achieving excellent clinical outcomes through the specified VA
guidelines. Customer Service: Must provide excellent customer
service to each veteran, both in person and over the phone, as well
as to fellow colleagues and clinic visitors. Establish and maintain
a warm, welcoming, and professional atmosphere for our colleagues
and veterans, ensuring needs and expectations are consistently met.
Collaborates with Clinic leadership to resolve veteran concerns or
complaints. Ensure all clinical areas are cleaned, stocked and
comfortable. Monitor coffee service to insure availability to
patients and guest. Enrollment Growth: Participate in the clinic’s
outreach events to help support the clinic’s enrollment
initiatives. Save & Recapture: Support patient enrollment and
retention in appointments, follow-up visits or nurse visits.
Strategic Initiatives: Embrace and support new initiatives, whether
clinical or operational Requirements Qualifications Certification
by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or
equivalent certifying organization. Completion of a 2-year program
for Medical Laboratory Technician. The Laboratory professional must
demonstrate ethical and moral attitudes and a commitment to
maintain patient confidentiality. Must have computer program
experience to be able to function in this position. Minimum of one
year of relevant medical practice experience. Must hold a current
and valid BLS certification by the American Heart Association.
Annual PPD. COVID Vaccination or a religious/medical exemption is
