Job Summary
Oversees and monitors the inspection and testing of materials, parts and products to ensure adherence to established quality standards. Establishes inspection protocols, defines sampling procedures and determines equipment and mechanisms to be used in the testing process. Recommends changes in specifications of materials, parts and products based on inspection results. Provide daily reports to management and the manufacturing team detailing daily audits and inspection data trends.

Serve as a backup auditor for manufacturing, shipping, damage/defect and incoming raw material audits when needed.

Ensures that standards of excellence are maintained during the production of goods or services. The QE will be responsible for establishing and maintaining good quality standards and improving overall quality of systems and parts. As a part of the corporate quality team, the candidate will help to implement and validate established standards in support of internal and customer-specific requirements, develop tools, maintain documentation programs, and effectively communicate observations and action planning as appropriate to other business managers.

Collaborate in cross-functional activities within Manufacturing, Product Development, Supply Chain business units as well as outside suppliers on quality issues and risk assessment. This position reports directly to the Quality Control Manager. This is a working supervisory role with little authority for personnel actions. The ideal candidate must be capable of multi-tasking, prioritizing, problem solving, and have the ability to work independently and cross functionally. Applicant should be detail oriented with ability to communicate effectively with both verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities
Issue corrective action requests as needed. Assist and train problem solving techniques (A3, 8D...etc.) as needed. Evaluate the results of the responses as to the acceptability of the corrective action. You will be(come) fluent in our product with sound knowledge of defect types and will be able to categorize them effectively.
Analyze and assess common or repeated themes, deviations, or other challenges within internal and external supply base.
Identify specific areas for focus and targeted review; make recommendations for sustained solution and improvement.
Duties include assessing and improving the procedures that make up the production process, as well as inspecting and calibrating or validating tools and testing equipment
Maintain understanding and knowledge of required documentation and scope of each audit. Examine documentation and processes to ensure control points are executed in adherence with regulatory, customer and internal policies and procedures
Assure the documentation of non-conformities, with follow-through and documentation of corrective action plans and perform verification audits through to satisfactory completion
Support Quality Manager with daily reporting, analysis, quality projects, 100% inspection, rework/repair and other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Develop and improve quality systems documents, procedures, work instructions, control plans, PFMEA, PPAP, etc.

Manufacturing operations knowledge; within bedding, furniture, fashion industry a plus; 2-year college degree preferred and 1-2 years relevant work experience, or 3-5 years of relevant work experience
Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) certification a strong plus, whether through completion of postsecondary coursework or relevant work experience
Detail oriented with strong technical, analytical and time management skills, self-motivated, process oriented
Dependable, work with a sense of urgency to meet established objectives and deadlines
Able to work independently and collaboratively with others, with minimal oversight from direct supervisor
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate in an appropriate manner at all levels
Proactive, flexible and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Intellectual honesty, judgement, empathy and positive energy valued
Proficiency in MS office, Excel skills a plus to create spreadsheets and other files
Perform work tasks with a safety mindset and in compliance with company safety standards. Protect self and others from potentially hazardous work conditions. Alert management about potential safety concerns.
Salary commensurate with experience.
