As a Senior Commodity Manager, you will have the opportunity to
negotiate and manage all aspects of PACCAR's relationship with
suppliers, including the commercial/contractual requirements with
respect to total cost, technology, quality, delivery, and customer
service. Commodity Managers are change agents, focused on
delivering the highest value to internal and external customers at

position will be responsible for managing PACCAR's commercial
relationship with capital equipment manufacturers for Powertrain
machining and assembly, commercial construction contractors, as
well as driving commercial strategies to control costs and mitigate
risk. This role will be based out of the PACCAR Engine plant in
Columbus, MS or the PACCAR North Texas office in Lewisville, TX.Job
Functions / Responsibilities
- Provide purchasing support, representation, and participation
in all issues related to assigned Capital Equipment and
Construction Projects commodities.
- Support the development of strategic sourcing events, supplier
and negotiation strategies, and work plans, in conjunction with
stakeholders, and support execution to established timelines.Work
in cross-functional teams to identify and document project
requirements, prepare RFQ's, perform supplier selections, and
implement projects. Work closely with the company's Legal
department to draft contracts and other documents.
- Support the identification and evaluation of suppliers that
meet the organization's standards of quality, value, timing,
service, and reliability of supply.
- Manage suppliers for multiple manufacturing and other business
locations within assigned commodity categories, to ensure the
lowest total cost of ownership.
- Develop, negotiate, and implement strategies resulting in
improved supply chain performance and enhanced product
quality.
- Investigate, evaluate, and implement new technologies, and
strategic procurement strategies.
- Negotiate and assure supplier compliance to long-term supply
and warranty agreements.
- Issue formal Requests for Information, Proposals and Quotes
(RFI's, RFP's, and RFQ's) and analyze responses to make sound
commercial judgments and sourcing recommendations.
- Collaborate with PACCAR operations worldwide to successfully
develop and execute global supply chain and commodity
strategies.
- Communicate and conduct meetings and formal presentations with
suppliers, plant, and division personnel at all management
levels.
- Travelto suppliersand PACCAR's operatinglocations to negotiate,
evaluate capabilities, assess production readiness, and investigate
new opportunities. This role will require an estimated 10-15%
travel.
- Other tasks as assigned.Qualifications & SkillsRequired:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance,
Engineering, Supply Chain Managementor related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of sourcing, supply chain, engineering,
logistics or related experience.
- Creative, self-motivated quality and results-driven work
ethic.
- Strong writing, analytical and organizationalskills; with great
attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
- Strongunderstanding of fundamental contract terms and ability
to draft supply contracts.
- Strong understanding of cost drivers and how changes in those
drivers affect cost.
- Ability to conceptualize and implement cost savings projects,
and toinfluence supplier behavior to meet PACCAR requirements.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form
to various levels of management and suppliers.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities as well as PC skills
(Word & PowerPoint).
- Experienced negotiator with demonstrated favorable
results.Preferred:
- Experience with parts purchasing, design, manufacturing, supply
chain management and/or commercial truck or automotive
experience.
- Project Team participation and/or Project Management
experience.
- Understanding of aluminum, steel, and plastic parts production
processes.
- Understanding or prior experience in Capital Equipment,
Facility Construction, Metal Fabrications, Diesel Engine machining
or assembly.
- Master's degree or MBA.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.BenefitsAs a
